LOTUS OF UNITY

The fountain, supported by locals, stands in the city center. The depth of its content is revealed as a lotus flower from human palms, symbolizing mutual support. Actually, it makes me very happy.

Lotus petals remind me of pigeons and their wingspan… Now birds have a stationary drinking bowl with clean water.

The feeling that my appearance in this world happened by parting with something incomprehensibly unique accompanies my consciousness throughout life. It is as if the world is divided into many fractals, which are constantly copied and multiplied. The universe is constantly expanding, and the feeling of inner unity with external disconnection is gone. Apparently this feeling is a certain indicator of love and helps me to maintain inner balance, to feel a certain harmony. Awareness of unity is the leading force in the direction of my self-preservation. The legend of unity was carried by our ancestors, who felt one with nature. The connection with one’s own roots has become secondary in today’s world. This root seems to be in the dark, dirty and untidy, but it nourishes my ability to enjoy existence. Similarly, the lotus flower, which grows in the swamp, is considered a symbol of purity around the world. The earth nourishes its prosperity…

As a child, I imagined myself as a little Thumbelina from Andersen’s fairy tale, who emerged from a flower, swam among water lilies, befriended a swallow… Often feeling physically weak, I lay down and dreamed. Things did not matter with my studies at school. At a time when my peers were winning school competitions, I hoped to win at least one children’s competition. Suddenly an opportunity. An unknown teacher came to our class and arranged an additional lesson in which we had to make our own product as part of an international project of friendship of peoples. The teacher offered the students different versions, including origami. I was the only student who agreed to the experiment. So I recreated with my own hands a white lotus flower of unearthly beauty. I put it on a blue sheet of cardboard and cut out an additional green sheet of paper, which completed the composition. The moment when  I was announced the winner of the competition was one of the happiest for me. I was tied to a martenitsa made by one of the Bulgarian students in a similar class. As I found out as an adult, the Bulgarian martenitsa contains a fundamental legend of unity, where the tassels in white and red are connected (feminine and masculine). According to legend, it was transferred from different lands to stranger swallow, and is a symbol of heavenly blessing…) In joy, I ran home and asked my parents for oil paints to paint on the blue wall of the bathroom a lake with water lilies and ducks.

I forgot about the lotus symbol in adulthood. But from time to time it continued to flow in my mind like deja vu…

After my health trip to Shaolin in 2007, where I studied Kung Fu, I had a lucid dream where Teachers showed me a picture of lotuses, which I had to paint for healing. And I did it. So lotuses are back in my life…

At the same time, the mental manifestation of the Lotus of Unity fountain began in Zhytomyr Square, Ukraine. Over time, the sculpture became more real in my inner vision, revealing to me an infinite number of meanings. The lotus was formed in my imagination like a cosmic projection, year after year, hand after hand, as if beyond my will, gradually, like a metaphysical phenomenon. It was the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen. Remove something, and all the contents will fall apart, replace one fragment, and the flower will not fold. It became clear to me that the projection of the lotus is formed in my mind not by chance. It deciphers the secret message of the universe. I looked at her through the limitations of my body and saw the absolute beauty.

In the end, there was no doubt that the fountain was destined to be. So I was not at all surprised when one day suddenly different people from all over started to involve me in competitions for the renovation of the city. But I had two years of a real fight against corruption ahead of me, in which the symbol of purity won…

World-renowned New York landscape designer Ken Smith liked the design of the “Lotus of Unity” fountain and recommended it for implementation.

Zen Buddhists have the famous koan Sekida Katsuko:
“Take a speechless rock from the depths of the sea, without soaking your sleeves, and bring it to me.” That’s what happened. One morning an acquaintance called me to report a gift.
